STEP 1
Gather your supplies from family and friends collecting unwanted saucers, figurines and clay pots of any size. The more the variety the more creative you can be. Your supplies will determine the size of your garden art. Deeper saucers are good for birdbaths and shallow saucers for birdfeeders. Encourage creativity by mixing and matching your materials. While stacking items to achieve an artistic design think colorful, cute, funny and unique.
STEP 2
Paint clay pots with two coats of patio craft paints. Choose colors that will enhance your project and coordinate with your figurines and saucers.
STEP 3
After the paint is dry, turn clay pot upside down and glue saucer to the bottom with liquid nails. Continue to glue other items to saucer to complete your garden art. Let glue dry 24 hours for best results, and then carefully clean up any excess glue on your project with glue cleaner.
This fun craft is perfect for spring.
TEACHER TIPS:
This project is quick and easy and very economical. The cost will depend on how many donations you receive. Shallow bowls, cups, unique ashtrays can also be used. You could even make a large one as a community service project. This craft would be a good opportunity to teach on recycling items that can be used as garden art. These are just as cute in the home that can be used as candy dishes or as paper clip holders.
CLEAN UP:
This project gets a 2 on a five point messy scale.
