Sassy Seed Boxes©

Store your seeds in these fun and sassy boxes.
SUPPLIES
STEP 1
Gather supplies and set up a work area outdoors for spray painting boxes, and lightly sand boxes with metal sandpaper, so the spray will adhere to the boxes.
STEP 2
Turn boxes upside down and spray outside of boxes only. Thickly spray paint mint boxes with primer and let dry. Next spray boxes evenly with fluorescent spray paint two coats will be necessary.
STEP 3 Next, lightly sand boxes again, especially around the inside edges of the boxes so as to make it easier for opening and closing the lids.
STEP 4
Draw designs with black paint pen then color, geometric shapes are fun and easy to draw. Encourage the kids to use simple designs and not to stress over any smears as they can just draw over mistakes and make them part of their designs. It may be necessary to color designs twice.
When paint designs are dry, spray a clear gloss sealer over the entire outside of the boxes for a finished look.
STEP 5
When boxes are dry, fill boxes with seeds that you have collected and label inside lid of boxes with labels, and add the names of the seeds and any directions that are needed.
Make these flashy and fun seed boxes as gifts, are to trade with your gardening friends.
TEACHER TIPS:
If students are doing the spray painting it is important to give a safety lesson first and use face masks. This project can be used as a lesson on persevering seeds and as a recycling project. This would also make a good fund raiser or community service project.
Cost for this project is very inexpensive, depending on the supplies that you already have. Set out recycle boxes in your community to collect mint boxes as this will help on costs and give you a variety of sizes.
CLEAN UP:
This should be a no-mess project.
