Flower Power Pen

This is a quick and easy craft project. They make great gifts for teachers and friends. This is the perfect project for the beginning of the school year.
SUPPLIES
2 ½ to 3 ½ inch Clay Pot
Same size Styrofoam ball (cut in half)
Floral tape
Package of Bic Pens
Bush of flowers
Straw Moss
Recycle glass, polished pebbles, craft bugs, etc.
Hot glue gun and glue sticks
Brightly colored acrylic paints and small brushes
STEP 1

Have your materials out and ready to use. For safety reasons have an adult to cut the Styrofoam ball(s) in half and remove the top cap of the pen. Paint the pot with bright colors and allow to dry.
STEP 2

Wrap pen with floral tape in a tight spiral from top to bottom. At the bottom, tear off the last part of the tape and press it down firmly.
STEP 3

Carefully hot glue the flower within the top hole of the pen. Use the glue liberally in order to secure the flower. Small children may need adult assistance.
STEP 4

After the painted pot has dried, hot glue your craft objects along the outside rim of the pot.
STEP 5

Insert the Styrofoam in the pot and glue it to the pot around the outside edges. Add glue over the surface (except the center) of the foam and pack enough straw to cover the foam.
Place pen in center of the pot for your finished project.
Now it’s time for Flower Power writing!

This project takes approximately 30 minutes. The cost is 50 cents to a dollar per pot. This activity is recommended for 3rd grade and up with adult assistance.
TEACHER TIPS:
