Garden Folk
Scarecrows have been used to scare bird pests from gardens for a long time. Your gardeners can make their own versions of scarecrows, called garden folks, to protect the plants and make your garden a more friendly place. And this month your group can create Garden Folks as described below and enter them in the Back to School Creative Completion!
SUPPLIES
v Plastic jug, Broomstick, Coat hanger,Old clothes
v Safety pins, Permanent marker
STEP 1
Have the gardeners hammer a stake or broomstick into the ground and top it with the plastic jug by putting the spout over the end of the stick.
STEP 2
Then they should push the hook of the hanger into the spout to create shoulders.
STEP 3
Next, dress the character with the old clothes, holding them in place with safety pins.
STEP 4
The last step is to use a permanent marker to add a face. Your gardener will enjoy seeing the scarecrow standing in the garden and keeping watch over their plants.
Now it’s ready for your fall garden!
CLEAN UP:
Simple soap and water is needed for clean up. We give it a 1/2 on a five point messy scale.
